While many guilds use a rot system, ours is different in a few ways so please read the explanations below.
We work on a 45 day slow rot system. This means that the following:
* People who stop raiding, loose their points, however just as it is quick to loose them, so is it to gain them. *
Our system works as follows:
1) Each day/night, the raid database counts backwards 45 days and ONLY those raid points earned and those loot points spent are counted in the raid totals that are shown.
- The next night, 1 day gets added in and 1 day removed.
- - For example, on February 15, the raid database counts would show January 1-Feb 14 (let's assume that is a 45 day period).
- - The next day, the database counts will show (Jan 2-Feb 15).
- - The next day (Jan 3-Feb 16 would be shown) and so on.
2) FOUR main things occur each day/night:
+ points added for raids attended that night
- points subtracted for raids from 46 nights ago (they drop off)
- points subtracted for points spent on loot that night
+ points added for points spent on loot from 46 nights ago
** Since ours is a rotating system, not a lifetime system, point totals change daily by the summation of those 4 items above.
** In addition, points spent on loot will be added back into the person's point totals after 46 days. (Since the raid the loot was won from is no longer looked at by the raid database counts, neither is the loot itself.)
3) THREE other things can adjust your points up/down:
a) Bonus points dropping off for first kills, loot council bonuses, helping on epics/flagging missions, guild member of the month bonus, etc.
b) Raiding fewer hours today than was raided 46 days ago. If 5 hours dropped off (cause 46 days ago we raided 5 hours) and 4 hours added on, this would affect loot points/raid percentage.
c) Hits from weekends/weekday fluctuation
- Sundays we loose some points because we didn't raid Fri/Sat but 46 and 47 days ago (the 2 most recent days to drop off) were midweek so we had raided. The entire membership loses about 5-9 points during this time.
- Similarly, midweek, points generally increase slightly for the same reason.
~~ FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS ~~
THE NUMBER ONE QUESTION ASKED IS: "Yesterday I had xx number of points. I attended all raids last night but today my point total is yy lower than it was yesterday. How can that be?"
The answer: adjustments were made on ALL 4 things listed above (and generally means we raided fewer hours last night than we did 46 nights ago - the night that dropped off). And there may have been some bonus point drop offs as well.
- Therefore if 46 nights ago we raided 6 hours, but last night we raided 4-5 hours (for example), everyone's potential maximum point totals would drop by 1-2 accordingly.
Our system is NOT linear and it only cares about what is included within its timeframe (45 days).
~~ WAYS TO THINK OF OUR SYSTEM ~~
1) Checkbook
One can think of a checkbook. There's lots of deposits and withdrawls made that can adjust your balance depending what day you look at the "balance" line, however, only what took place within the last 45 days is counted.
2) Conveyor Belt
A conveyor belt that is turned on. Imagine that each day the belt moves up one slot closer to the end. Let's use a post office conveyor belt for this example.
You have both letters GOING TO someone and packaging being RETURNED to someone. Any of the letters on the conveyor belt is counted in the totals, and once the letters hit the end of the belt, they are no longer counted. Same thing with the packages; once they hit the end of the conveyor belt, they have been returned.
~~ ADDITIONAL EFFECT OF SYSTEM ~~
One other thing members should keep in mind.
For the first 45 days someone is in guild, there are NO bonus points and no raids dropping off yet, so your scores only go up. However, you will be competiting with members who have 45+ day history so their point totals may be higher.
Once day 46+ hits, you are now susceptible to the point "rot" part of the system as mentioned above. All members in guild have the rot affect them the same way. At this point you are on exact even footing with all other raiders in your attendance bracket.
