WHO IS RESOLUTION OF EROLLISI MARR, COMPARED TO THE SERVER?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
1) Resolution of Erollisi Marr is a guild created in July 2008 from two guilds with over 6 years of history each (Primal Evolution and Resilience). Officers in the new guild date back to 4+ years experience in the pre-merge guilds. Neither guild has had scandal (ex. MQ/hacker bannings or server issues) tinting their name.
2) Resolution is a fairly quiet guild, without many OOC/say/shout battles among other guilds.
3) You won't find many Resolution members strewed through the rant boards. Why? We believe in our reputation and we do character reference checks of aspiring members to block potential problems. We believe in second chances, but we won’t risk our current guild environment to give them.
4) We may hold a strong position on server, but we don't go around 'strutting' our stuff or acting bigger than our britches. 'We're a guild that has fun working and playing together. Progression follows naturally and the rest just falls into place
6) We believe in ethical, loyalty and respect in our members and in how we treat others. Hence you won't find us a 'poach' guild that swallows up Erollisi Marr's younger guilds. And you won't find us putting alts in younger guilds or dangling 'carrots' to use as a recruitment ploy like some guilds have in the past. If you see any of this, please let a recruiting officer know as it’s not a tactic we approve.
7) Our leadership structure (council style) and loot system are designed to reflect our core values of taking care of everyone in guild, whether they be the 100% raider, the 50% raider or a part time raider.
LANGUAGE
~~~~~~~
Resolution of Erollisi Marr is a PG13+ guild. We do push boundaries at times but overall, you will not hear a lot of swearing so if your typical daily language would make a sailor blush or would win cyber awards, Resolution is NOT the guild for you.
We have families that play or watch the screen as well as a few young members, so we try to keep the overall discussion in all public channels free of controversial language and discussions.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
RESOLUTION OF EROLLISI MARR RAIDING ENVIRONMENT
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Resolution has a relaxed raiding environment (with all its pros and cons).
* Our raid style is relaxed, not extremely structured (and if you're a more focused/harder core type of player, we'll be honest this may grate on you at times).
* Half our raid force is part time and half full time raiders, so there will always be some portion of raiders less familiar with the event and in spite of our best efforts, mistakes can/will happen. With teamwork and tolerance we seek to turn these situations into learning experiences that make us all a stronger raid force.
- We expect our raiders to tolerate it when mistakes are made. We also expect tolerance of other viewspoints. Note, we do work behind the scenes to modify mistakes when they do occur.
* Raid moving/buffing/clearing etc. will have inefficiencies in them, but that is part of our culture. Members are not squeezed to give their lifeblood to raid here. Members aren't squeezed for their highest DPS output or to better themselves to the absolute best they can be outside of raid times.
Pros – mistakes made aren’t publically hung out to dry, we do not have a drill sergeant raid environment, no pressure applied to force a “needed” class to raid/log on
Cons – relaxed raiding which will mean less “rushing” on raids and technique lapses during raids will happen on occasion. We tend to move a bit slowly between targets and give more detailed instructions (to aid our part time players who don't get a chance to see the event as often as our full time raiders).
For those who prefer a militaristic/fast paced/organized/100% focus, no “chit-chat” during raid type of environment, we may not be the right fit for you.
Those who feel raiding is “stressful” or not fun because of a yell/punish type of environment should enjoy Reso’s more relaxed atmosphere.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
HYBRID RAID FORCE, WHAT'S THAT MEAN?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Half our raid force is 1-3x a week raiders while half is 3-5x a week raiders. Resolution is VERY understanding to real life taking raiders away, however, raiders do need to understand one thing as well.
If a raider’s raid percentage drops during their stay in guild for any consecutive length of time (of less than 6 months), two things will happen:
1) We will welcome that raider back with open arms once he/she can raid again
2) Out of necessity, Resolution will be recruiting to replace that position that became vacant while the person is taking care of real life.
- This last point is important because it means when the raider comes back, they WILL still have a spot in guild, but their role on/in raids may not be as prominent as it once was.
- Resolution needs active raiders in order to continue on its quest for fun (and progression), so please understand you might have to 'share' responsibilities if you take time off EQ and come back.
- Once a raider has not raided in 6 months, they are dropped from guild and must reapply when they can raid again.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
PROGRESSION MENTALITY
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Resolution prides itself upon its progression timing, but we do NOT focus on progression first; we focus on having FUN while we progress. We are progression focused, not content focused. What that specifically means is this – we work the progression in order as our key focus, with some time allowed toward older content and testing future content as needed (either for gearing to continue current progression, for fun, or to gear up lower attendance, returning members or applicants).
Members of Resolution must believe, understand and accept that the leadership has the best interests of the GUILD when they choose raid targets. And members of Resolution work together toward meeting those interests without holding the guild hostage to their personal whims. Cherry picking raids can sound like fun but there are usually reprocussions that will go along with that if leadership sees a pattern occuring.
FUN > All.
Resolution is not afraid to tackle events that appear daunting or unbeatable with current raid counts; we view it as a learning tool to gauge various aspects of the event.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
RAIDER MENTALITY
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Resolution has a hybrid raiding structure. Half our members are 1-3x a week raiders and the other half are 3-5x a week raiders.
This structure means there is volatile shifts for raiding #'s and inconsistencies in class #'s online ... but it also shows that we recognize real life is important and as such do not inforce an "be online x/week or else".
Potential applicants must be comfortable with that type of fluctating raid force.
Also, while being a relaxed raiding guild, Resolution does expect that if a member is online, they are raiding. We allow one day a month for folks to be online and not raiding, otherwise, we are a raid oriented guild and as such members should prepare to join the death/destruction (ours or the mobs :twisted: ) should you apply to Resolution.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
GROUPING MENTALITY
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Resolution is a guild of mostly adults in their late 20's or 30+ who also have very busy real lives. As such, many members only come online to raid so grouping situations are easier when members are not afraid to form a group rather than sit and wait for invites. With the advent of Mercs, this has opened up many grouping opportunities that did not exist prior.
Resolution members have a wide variety of EQ interest points (tradeskills, quests, spell farming, progression arcs, camping for clickies, aug runs, etc.).
~~~~~~~~~~~~
COMMUNICATION
~~~~~~~~~~~~
Resolution chat channels can be lively depending on the members that are online and we also communicate often via the message boards. We expect that any members considering Resolution as a guild would take advantage of both communication mediums on a frequent (weekly+) basis if they become a member.
- They should also frequently visit their class forums.
Tentative schedules may or may not be posted by the leadership. But in general, our targets are fairly consistent and predictable.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
EMARR and RESOLUTION CULTURE ON CAMPS, ETC.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Each server (and consequently each guild) handles things different when it comes to camps, disputes etc.
Erollisi Marr server culture is more often one of leaving camps to those who are present at one and have claimed it (regardless of opinion if the group can handle the camp).
- Folks do not "pressure" others into sharing/giving up (part of) their camp.
Resolution takes that a step further and prefers that someone who finds themself in that situation (heading to a camp and finding it taken already) to leave the area or ask to share. And if the answer to sharing is "no", anyone wearing the Resolution tag should never engage in behavior detrimental to our guild tag and honor.
- This includes "swearing, damaging mobs someone else has engaged (regardless of it was 'your camp' or not), taking mobs that another camp has already claimed as theirs (even if you think they can't handle or keep the camp clean).
- This also includes using any 3rd party illegal programs for any purpose.
Resolution members (and apps) should contact an officer if they find themselves in a situation such as the above, so officers are aware in case complaints come up later on.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
RESPECT EXPECTATIONS
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Resolution wants its players to be happy, whether it's in real life, with us in game or with another guild in game. However, one thing we demand of our members is courtesy and respect.
This is also why we ask that IF you become unhappy in Resolution and plan to make a guild move, that you talk to an officer or the guild leader before you make any moves. It's a sign of respect and one that any guild should not have to ask for; it should be common curtesy. Don't lie or make up an excuse; just say you no longer wish to be in Resolution. Be an adult who is responsible for your own actions.
Along those same lines, we ask that if you find yourself in that type of situation, that you definitely talk to someone who may be able to help. Many times an officer can solve an issue (maybe it's with another member, maybe it's a feeling of burning out, doing too much, etc.) but this guild cannot fix things if it does not know about the problems - and the right people need to know.
- Do note that sometimes the impasse is a change of desire within a member and therefore leadership may choose to not change guild structure for those type of reasons. The leadership looks to have the entire guild's best interests in mind when they make decisions, not just one faucet of the guild.
